WEDDING PLANNING & GUIDE

Calendar Checklist

The following checklist is an "ideal" timetable. Couples who do not have as much time as show should plan their wedding in much the same order, using the checklist as a guide. Be sure to check things off as you complete them.

Immediately After the Engagement:
o Discuss a budget and the size and style of the wedding with your parents. Decide who pays for what.
o If you will be using a wedding consultant, enlist their services.
o Meet with clergy member; schedule pre-marital counseling.
o Reserve wedding and reception sites; make initial catering contacts.
o Register at local bridal registries.
o Contact photographers; hire one.

Six Months or more before:
o Compile guest list.
o Reserve a block of hotel room for out-of-town guests.
o Choose engagement and wedding rings.
o Send your engagement announcement to newspapers.
o Select and order wedding gown.
o Select the attendants (bridesmaids and groomsman). Choose and order bridesmaids dresses.
o Select one usher for every 50 guests.
o Check out videographers. Hire one.
o Make arrangement for the music at the wedding and reception.
o Check out bakers. Get estimates. Book the date.
o Plan beauty preparations (nail, diet, hair, skin care, makeup).

Four Months Before:
o Complete the guest list and confirm final details with the caterer.
o Order invitations (25extra) and personal stationery or "Thank you" note.
o Order napkins and purchase any other items needed for the ceremony and reception. Check with the caterer    to see what he/she includes.
o Visit the photographer again to discuss specifics. Use the "photographer check list".
o Get estimates and order flowers and floral arrangements for wedding and reception.
o Get estimates and order balloons, decorations and favors for wedding and reception.
o Make all transportation arrangements to and from the wedding and reception. Consider hiring a limousine.    Party bus,    trolley or horse drawn carriage.
o Book room for wedding night.
o Make honeymoon plans.

Three Months Before:
o Order wedding rings. Allow time for any final engraving.
o Order tuxedos for the groomsmen and fathers.
o Complete all honeymoon plans. If traveling out side the country, check on visa, passport and inoculations.

Two Months Before:
o Mail invitation (six weeks before the wedding; eight weeks to out of town guests).
o Make appointments with the hairdresser for the bride and attendants or out-of-town guests.
o Buy a wedding gift for your future spouse and gifts attendants and helpers.
o Finalize arrangements of accommodations for out-of-town attendants and guests.

One Month Before:
o Choose all accessories, shoes and lingerie for bridal gown and Bridesmaids' dresses.
o Have a final fit for Bridal gown and bridesmaids' dresses.
o Have beauty consultant do a trial run with bride's hair and makeup. Schedule this appointment on the day the    bridal portrait is take and/or a party planned.
o Have bridal portrait taken.
o Register all tuxedo size with the formal wear store.
o Check with newspapers on wedding announcement requirements.
o Finalize plans for rehearsal dinner.
o Plan setting arrangements for the rehearsal dinner and reception.
o Arrange bridesmaids' luncheon. Often, that is when the bride gives them their gifts.
o Complete name-change documents.
o Complete change-of-address information for post-office.
o Keep current with "Thank you" notes for shower and early wedding gifts.

Two Weeks Before:
o Get marriage license. Be sure to bring all needed documents.
o Inform or send invitations including exact time and location to those who will attend the rehearsal and    rehearsal dinner.
o Inquire about where you and your attendants will dress for ceremony.
o Walk to the entire event in your mind. Consider things like parking access for handicapped guests etc.
o Confirm all transportation plans.
o Check in with caterer, photographer, videographer, musicians, DJ, florist, etc. To confirm all arrangements.
o "Break in" Wedding shoes at home.

One Week Before:
o Appoint someone to act as an "organizer" to handle any last minute problems.
o Give a final guest count to the caterer.
o Review final detail for those in the wedding party.
o Confirm honeymoon arrangements.
o Pack for the honeymoon. Know what you'll wear from reception.
o Enjoy a day with your family and friends. Visit a day spar, have a massage, a facial and relax.

One Day Before:
o Attend the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
o Give the rings and clergy member's fee to best man.

Wedding Day:
o Mail wedding announcements.
o Enjoy the day!
